Cabbage Rolls

Mix Together

1 cup cooked rice
1/2 lb. ground meat of choice (beef, turkey, sausage)
1/2 onion, minced
1 carrot, shredded
Spices: S&P, Worcestershire sauce, dash of cinnamon

Finish It Up

Carefully remove 10 or so cabbage leaves, then immerse in boiling water for a few minutes until somewhat pliable.  Place palmful of mixture in each leaf, then roll up like a burrito.  Pour a bit of tomato sauce in the bottom of the crockpot, then place cabbage rolls on the sauce.  Top with remaining sauce, then cook on low all day until rolls are tender.  Serve with a dollop of sour cream.

Variations

It's optional to add eggs or breadcrumbs as an adherent, like in a meatloaf.  Several good recipes I've scouted call for topping the cabbage rolls with saur kraut, instead of tomato sauce.  You can also bake them covered in the oven, or simmer/steam them in a covered stovetop pot.
